Pakistan Railways achieved another milestone in its efforts to provide comfortable, safe and speedy travelling facilities to people by launching a non-stop train between Lahore and Rawalpindi on Sunday.

Inaugurating the train at Rawalpindi Railway Station, Pakistan Railways Chairman Malik Asif Hayyat said, "We are spending all available resources on provision of best travelling facilities to masses and starting of non-stop train between Lahore and Rawalpindi is a step in this regard."

The train would cover distance of over 300 Km in three hours and 45 minutes cutting down the travelling distance between the two major cities by about an hour.

Comprising new Chinese coaches completely assembled by Pakistan Railways, including two AC parlour coaches, two AC lower coaches, 3 economy class coaches, one power van and one brake van, the train would start its two way operation from August 2 (Monday), leaving Lahore at 6.00 am and reaching Rawalpindi at 9.45 am.

It would start its journey back from Rawalpindi at 6.00 pm reaching Lahore at 9.45 pm daily.

Later, the train was accorded warm welcome when carrying 600 passengers and railway officials including Chairman Malik Asif Hayyat, GM Aurangzeb Khan, AGM, Passenger and IG Railway Police it reached at Lahore Railway Station.
